Eugene Regan was elected to Seanad Eireann in July, 2007. He was appointed Fine Gael Seanad Spokesperson for Justice, Equality and Law Reform in October, 2007. Eugene is also a member of the Joint Committee on the Constitution and the Joint Committee on Justice, Equality, Defence and Women's Rights.
Biography
Eugene, one of 13 children, put himself through college and trained as an economist and barrister. Eugene was born in County Meath and studied in County Kildare and Dublin. His mother came from Galway and his father from Sligo. Stagiaire to Commissioner Patrick Hillery; succeeded Alan Dukes as IFA chief representative in Brussels; Member of Cabinet of Peter Sutherland in the European Commission; Senior Cousel; Company Director; Director of Goldman Sachs (Dublin and Luxembourg) and other financial investment companies; Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.
Eugene stood in the recent general election for Fine Gael in the Dún Laoghaire constituency. He came within 110 votes of taking a second seat for the Party.
